MACON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been accused of shooting his teenage son during an argument at their home in Georgia.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office tells news outlets in a statement that 50-year-old Sheldon Beard shot 19-year-old Shel'vonta Beard several times Saturday night in Macon. The statement says the teenager was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle. He is in critical condition.
The sheriff's office says Sheldon Beard was not at the scene when deputies arrived. He later turned himself in and was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder.
Beard is being held in the county jail without bail. It is unclear if he has a lawyer who could comment for him.
