Autopsy: Woman shot, not stabbed

Based on a preliminary autopsy report, the 28-year-old woman killed on Saturday in Echols County was shot to death, not stabbed as authorities initially reported. Her 61-year-old boyfriend is charged in the case.

Macon police are investigating the severe beating of a man by 7 black men on Whitehead Street and Chappell Street, around 5:00 am Sunday. In an email, Macon police spokesperson, Jami Gaudet, said some of the suspects fled the scene on bicycles, after a citizen informed an officer of the assault.
